Today's report is about some of Italy's very old and famous places such as Pompeii. What is happening to them at the moment? Why is this happening? What can be done to stop it? This first activity prepares you for words used in the report which refer to buildings, volcanoes and money. The listening activity supports your understanding of the key meanings in the report by asking you to answer questions about what you hear. A follow-up activity provides an opportunity to practice using some of the words connected to the past which you heard, by completing an e-mail from a recent visitor to Pompeii.
